Dealing with toxins.
The information provided below I took from a webinar I was on last night about essential oils and weight loss. I thought it was worth sharing.
DEALING WITH OUR TOXIN-FILLED WORLD
Did you know that Americans now spend between 80-90% of their time inside, and that the average American home contains over 63 hazardous products? From antiperspirants to perfumes to “air fresheners”, we have been unknowingly ingesting tons of chemical compounds that our body is unequipped to deal with. And we trust it bc it’s sold at the store.
In recent years we have seen a dramatic rise in birth defects, infertility, asthma, ADD, Alzheimer’s disease, and countless other illnesses and conditions. We breathe in chemical vapors from our household cleaners, we absorb chemicals into our skin as we shower and brush our teeth. Check your toothpaste! If it says to call poison control for swallowing, that’s not a good sign!
Seventy-five percent of American homes use synthetic air fresheners that contain numerous amounts of chemical agents that have been linked to cancer. Formaldehyde is in air fresheners. When you see the term ‘fragrance’ remember that it can include up to 300 toxic chemicals and just say ‘fragrance’! The olfactory nerve is a pathway to the brain, which when it is being hit with formaldehyde, it will disrupt the endocrine system. It actually deadens that nerve, which decreases your nose from being able to smell as well. Formaldehyde is the #1 cancer causing chemical and is what you are embalmed with at the morgue.
SO WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH WEIGHT MANAGEMENT?
When petrochemicals (from toxins through food, air fresheners, shampoo, body care products, etc.) are exposed to the body, naturally the body produces fat cells to trap the toxins to protect vital organs. This is the body's way of protecting itself. Ever wonder why some people still have cellulite no matter how much they diet and exercise? Toxins are still trapped in the fat cells. I'll talk more about this later with the Petrochemical Weight Loss Protocol.
But that's not all. Think again of how your sense of smell is tied to the limbic system of your brain. You smell air fresheners, perfumes, etc. - all synthetic fragrances that could alter your brain's satiety center.
In light of the above, I will be publishing to my blog recipes for natural products to replace those that are filled with toxins. If you have a recipe that you would like to submit, please email it to me at cindyzahn@gmail.com and I will publish it on my blog and give you credit for it, if you so desire.
